The name Royal Ivory is drawn from two pillars of Thai cultural identity. Royal honours the grandeur and meticulous craftsmanship of Thailand's royal court tradition — the gilded temples, the handcrafted woodwork, the reverence for beauty and detail. Ivory invokes the rare, timeless quality of materials prized in traditional Thai art: elegant, enduring, and impossible to imitate.
Together, they represent our founding promise: to create a hotel that feels genuinely Thai — not a theme-park imitation, but a living expression of a culture built on warmth, craft, and welcome.
When the original owners acquired the Sukhumvit Soi 4 property in 2010, they made a decision that would define the hotel for the next 15 years: everything would be designed around authenticity. The teak-wood floors were sourced from traditional Thai craftsmen. The sculptures and carvings throughout the lobby and corridors were handcrafted by artisans. The silk accents in every room came from the same weaving communities that supply Bangkok's finest boutiques.
The result is a hotel that guests describe not as "nice" or "comfortable" — but as genuinely Thai. That is Royal Ivory's true brand position, and it has never changed.
Every design decision at Royal Ivory flows from one principle: authenticity cannot be faked. In a Bangkok hotel market full of generic "modern" rooms, we deliberately chose the opposite direction. Our three design pillars:
Floors, furniture, and structural elements throughout the hotel use genuine teak and tropical hardwoods sourced from certified Thai craftsmen — the same materials used in Thailand's finest traditional homes for centuries.
Every piece of decorative woodwork in the lobby, corridors, and rooms is handcrafted by artisans trained in traditional Thai sculptural techniques. No mass-produced décor, no generic hotel prints.
Cushions, bed runners, and accent textiles use genuine Thai silk woven in traditional patterns. The colour palette — deep golds, burgundies, and ivories — is drawn directly from Thai temple and palace interiors.
In a city where budget hotels routinely offer 18–22 sqm rooms, Royal Ivory starts at 32 sqm. Our Superior rooms are larger than many competitor Deluxe categories. Space is not a luxury — it is a baseline.
The outdoor pool and surrounding garden are deliberately maintained as a quiet retreat. No poolside DJ, no crowded sun-lounger culture. A place to decompress after Bangkok's stimulating streets.
The lobby is designed to feel like arriving at a wealthy Thai family's home — warm, personal, with the smell of fresh flowers and the sound of traditional music. Front desk staff are briefed to welcome guests by name after the first visit.
Royal Ivory Nana Hotel opens on Sukhumvit Soi 4. 90 rooms. The founders commit to authentic Thai heritage design at a time when the market is moving toward generic modern interiors. The no joiner charge policy is established from day one.
DezBar is added as a gathering place for guests and locals alike — a relaxed, unpretentious bar where conversations start between travellers from every corner of the world.
Basil Restaurant expands its kitchen and menu to offer a full range of Thai and international cuisine, with emphasis on fresh seafood and traditional Thai dishes. In-house tailoring services are formalised.
The outdoor swimming pool and surrounding gardens are fully renovated. New tropical landscaping and improved lighting transform the pool area into one of the most attractive outdoor spaces in the Nana area.
The group opens Andatel Patong Phuket, Mirage Patong, and Phoenix Patong — extending the Thai hospitality philosophy to Thailand's premier beach destination.
Royal Ivory launches its own direct booking engine, reducing reliance on OTA commissions and allowing guests to access the best available rates directly. Free cancellation policy introduced on most rate types.
Room interiors refreshed across all categories — new teak furniture, upgraded Thai silk bedding, and enhanced in-room amenities while preserving the authentic heritage character that guests love.

"15 years and the philosophy hasn't changed. We still source our wood from the same craftsmen. We still use the same silk weavers. We still welcome every guest the same way — like family. That consistency is, we believe, the only thing that matters in hospitality."
— Royal Ivory Nana Management, 2025Every design choice, every service decision, every hire is evaluated against one question: is this genuinely Thai, or is it an imitation of Thai? We will always choose genuine. A hotel that imitates culture is a souvenir shop. A hotel that lives it is a home.
Since 2010, no guest at Royal Ivory has ever been charged an extra fee for having an additional adult visitor in their room. This is not a marketing point — it is a principle of respect for our guests' privacy and freedom. It will never change.
We are not managed by a corporate group. The same family that opened the hotel in 2010 oversees every decision in 2026. This means long-serving staff who know guests by name, personalised service that a chain hotel cannot replicate, and a pride of ownership that shows in every detail.
When hotel developers came to us with plans for more rooms at smaller sizes, we refused. Our guests deserve to feel comfortable — not squeezed into a corridor with a bed. 32 sqm minimum. Non-negotiable.
Royal Ivory's team of 50+ staff are predominantly Thai, many of whom have been with the hotel for over a decade. Longevity matters to us — a staff member who has worked here for eight years knows our guests, knows our standards, and carries institutional knowledge that cannot be trained in a week. We invest heavily in our people because they are the hotel.
"Every guest who walks through our door carries a story. Our job is to make sure that story has a chapter it remembers."
"I remember most of our regular guests by name. When they come back and I can greet them by name — that smile is why I do this job."
"A clean room isn't just a clean room. It's the guest knowing we respect their space. That standard doesn't change based on room type or rate."
